The Silo Hotel
The Silo has become a Cape Town landmark. Everything about this hotel is extraordinary! Built into historic grain silos in the V&A Waterfront, the hotel occupies the 6 floors above the Zeitz MOCCA (the world’s largest contemporary African art museum). From the outside, the most striking feature is the floor-to-ceiling pillowed windows that look like giant lanterns.
Inside, industrial architecture is skilfully mixed with plush furnishing and playful colours. A modern chandelier hangs alongside the original grain hoppers, and the polished concrete walls are hung with contemporary African art. Each room is individually decorated with eclectic pieces, and the incredible windows let in the city, Table Mountain or harbour views.
The 6th floor Willaston Bar has a fantastic cocktail menu and selection of bar snacks. The Granary Café offers a more formal dining experience as well as their popular Royal high teas. And, for the best views, head up to The Silo Rooftop for a sunset drink, casual lunch or dip in the glass-sided swimming pool. The Silo also has a spa where you can pick from a variety of treatments or one of their excellent massages.
Shortly after The Silo opened we went to take a look. Read our review – Sneak Peek: The Silo in Cape Town.
