Marataba Conservation Founders Camp

Marataba is a privately managed section of the Marakele National Park, one of South Africa’s most innovative conservation models. Their focus is on protecting the area’s diverse flora and fauna through modern and hands-on conservation practices.

The 4 suites at Marataba Conservation Founders Camp overlooking the magnificent views of the Matlabas River, which attracts various wildlife. The camp is malaria-free and fenced, making it perfect for families with children. All guests are allocated a private vehicle and guide for conservation experiences and active participation. The experiences are designed to be combined on a ‘mix and match’ basis to create the perfect, tailor-made itinerary.

The conservation on offer encourage active participation in the pioneering initiatives of Marataba and can be combined to create exciting conservation combinations. Guests have the opportunity to make a difference by getting involved and actively contributing to Founders Camp’s efforts to conserve the area. These activities include camera trap setups, area protection, rhino ear notch ID and a 3-day rhino conservation safari which is at an additional charge.  The rhino conservation experiences offer a detailed look into what the team is doing to safeguard these incredible animals’ survival.
