Set among ancient camel-thorn trees on the dry Auab riverbed, this opulent refuge offers top-class facilities and warm hospitality. The towering red-orange sand dunes of Sossusvlei lie nearby, beckoning guests to discover their mystery and solitude.

This sumptuous desert retreat is located inside a private wilderness reserve, covering 37 000 hectares (91 500 acres) of arid terrain in the ancient Namib Desert. Accommodation is in 11 thatch-roofed villas, called kulalas, meaning ‘to sleep’. These air-conditioned units are designed to blend in with the muted desert landscape, with each villa offering its own plunge pool and indoor as well as outdoor showers, and a private rooftop bed for intimate stargazing.
