Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp

Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is a modern and elegant tented camp in an incredibly remote location, deep in the Namib Desert. The camp has just 8 tents (including a family tent) each opening onto a shaded deck, where you can relax in comfort and take in your magnificent desert surroundings.

Namibia’s starkly beautiful Kaokoveld supports a surprising diversity of wildlife. And while game drives at Hoanib Skeleton Coast are not just about ticking sightings off a checklist, you still have a good chance of seeing herds of elephant, giraffe, gemsbok (oryx) and lion in the dry riverbeds – or framed by enormous sand dunes. Fantastic for photography!

Another highlight is sure to be the trip to the Skeleton Coast. Your day starts with a game drive, stopping at unexpected oases, before arriving at the rugged coastline with its rusted shipwrecks. Visit a colony of thousands of Cape fur seals (and possibly some shaggy brown hyaena sniffing around too). After a picnic lunch on the beach, you’re flown back over the dune fields.

Being so remote, there is no wifi so this really is a chance to unplug. The staff are wonderful, meals are really tasty, there’s a good selection of wine, and after dinner you can sit around the campfire and listen to stories under a sky bright with stars.
