DumaTau Camp
DumaTau Camp is a stylish tented camp in Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, close to the source of the Savute Channel. This region of Botswana is a haven for elephant with large herds gathering along the waterways during the dry winter months. You might even see elephant trundling along the wildlife corridors that run through camp or swimming across the river – their trunks held high!
But elephant are not the only big game in the Linyanti Region. Go on guided drives to get up close to the region’s predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyena and wild dog. Then swap your vehicle for a relaxing cruise on the lodge’s luxury barge (water levels permitting) or spend a few hours in one of the nearby hides – fantastic for birders, and a must for keen photographers!
DamuTau was completely rebuilt in 2012 and has a fresh, contemporary feel. There are 10 tents, five on either side of the main lounge and dining area. The whole camp has a pretty setting looking out over a hippo-filled lagoon on the Linyanti River, and between safaris is a relaxing spot to have a drink overlooking the water or a dip in the pool – again with those lagoon views.
Another lovely feature is the floating fire deck; perfect for sunset drinks and fireside chats before a delicious dinner served under the stars. Those looking for a more romantic dining experience need simply ask, and DumaTau’s helpful staff will arrange a quiet nook for a candlelit dinner for two.
