Jabulani

Jabulani is a family-owned luxury lodge in Kapama, a private game reserve in the Greater Kruger area. The camp was initially set up to support a herd of rescued elephants in need of a home. Today, this Relais & Châteaux-accredited lodge offers an extraordinary safari experience with Big 5 game viewing, superb accommodation and the chance to spend time with the Jabulani herd.

Stay in one of 6 secluded suites, each tucked into the bush to allow plenty of privacy. Suites are spacious and have a 4-poster bed, lounge area with a fireplace, and an open-plan bathroom with a deep stone bathtub and glass-enclosed “outdoor” shower. Sliding doors open onto a game viewing deck and your own private plunge pool. For a more exclusive touch, the Zindoga Villa has 2 self-contained suites, one of which has an adjoining twin room for children.

Days are flexible at Jabulani. Not an early bird? Skip the 5am wake-up call, and catch up with the wildlife later. Guided game drives take you out into Kapama Reserve, and you can also visit the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. Of course, a highlight of any stay is the elephant experience: walking through the reserve with the resident herd and their amazing handlers or watching the elephants splash about at the waterhole.
