Azura Benguerra Island

Azura Benguerra Island lies in the Bazaruto Archipelago, off the southern coast of Mozambique. Your holiday begins with a stunning 10-minute helicopter transfer from Vilanculos, looking down at the shifting blues of the Indian Ocean below. Mozambique’s islands are known for their warm water, white sand beaches and some of the best coral reefs in the world.

Landing on the island, you’re warmly welcomed and introduced to your butler-host. Azura Benguerra Island is operated in partnership with the local community, and the staff are fantastic with a genuine warmth and stories to share! Dining is all part of the experience from breakfast at the water’s edge to picnics on a remote island. Other activities include horse riding, dhow cruises, fishing, and (of course) scuba diving and snorkelling in the protected waters.

Azura Benguerra Island has 20 villas including the wonderfully private Royal Villas and 2-bedroom Villa Amizade (great for families!). The villas are air-conditioned and have a barefoot luxury feel. Each is just footsteps from the broad sandy beach, and has its own generously-sized plunge pool and thatched sala with a shaded daybed. All in all, an excellent choice for an idyllic Indian Ocean island escape.
