Fantastic Location in the V&A Waterfront

The Silo is set in a historic grain silo, above what will become the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) – scheduled to open in September this year. When it was built in 1924, the grain silo was the tallest building in sub-Saharan Africa, and still towers over the V&A Waterfornt with views stretching out over the city to Table Mountain on the one side, and across the harbour on the other.

Unique & Exclusive Place to Stay

The Silo forms part of Liz Biden’s Royal Portfolio collection which includes La Residence in Franschhoek, Birkenhead House in Hermanus, and Royal Malewane in the Greater Kruger Park. Liz has a well-earned reputation for creating beautiful, inviting spaces; and you can clearly see her touch in the décor of The Silo.

There are 34 rooms (28 keys) across seven categories, ranging in size from the 41m2 Silo Rooms to the spectacular 211m2 Penthouse. The attention to detail is fantastic with the industrial feel of the old grain silo balanced by rich colours and luxurious comfort. Even the bathrooms have marble floors and crystal chandeliers, and those pillowed windows give the feeling of having the city or harbour spread out at your feet.

Perfect for Private Functions

The Silo has an incredible rooftop bar with comfortable seating and a glass-sided swimming pool. The bar menu focuses on easy-to-eat snacks including charcuterie platters, prawn tempura, and pulled pork sandwiches. The views from the rooftop are nothing less than phenomenal, and we can think of few better venues for a glass or two of bubbly as you take in the Cape Town sunset.

The main restaurant, The Granary Café, is located on the sixth floor as is the beautiful Willaston Bar. For groups, The Silo also offers a private dining experience. The hotel’s glass-fronted meeting rooms can be converted into private dining spaces, and the choice of menus ranges from a fine dining 7-course Cape Journey to a more informal Indian feast.
