Named after the local river system, Selinda is a Great Plains’ camp with ease of living and beautiful bush style.
We visited early March after an unusually wet and therefore very green season. Despite tall grass and tons of water across the land, our highly skilled guide, Lesh was able to show us some incredible game. Highlights being a sighting of a cheetah stalking a wildebeest as well as a painted dog chasing an impala.
Birds are never disappointing in Botswana and this time was no exception. From the gigantic stork and crane species, to the curios owls, to the small cisticolas, my camera worked hard.
Food is taken very seriously at Selinda. It’s clean eating at the highest quality. Plant based eating is their way, with delicious protein choices always available as an add on. Portions are well managed with an understanding of what safari life entails. Our plates were never left anything other than spotless after every meal.
Great Plains Botswana places focus on a specific spirit at each camp. Lucky for me, Selinda is all about Gin. I got to try a couple of tasty Gins, but the locally made Okavango has my tastebuds hooked. Duty free will be seeing me before I leave this beautiful country.
All good things must come to an end. Goodbyes are hard at this special camp. Our guide knew that we couldn’t purchase from the boutique something we hadn’t seen. After that incredible wild dog sighting, we are delighted to be leaving with two gorgeous locally made wood carved dogs to remind us of this experience.
Selinda comes highly recommended for those who place importance on healthy living in an authentic bush experience.
