Charlotte and I had the privilege to visit two gorgeous properties in the Cape Winelands region recently. Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa is in the Helderberg Region and Lanzerac Hotel & Spa is located in the quaint town of Stellenbosch.
Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa
Erinvale Estate is a peaceful and memorable place to stay within the Helderberg Region with activities just a stone’s throw away. The hotel sits in elegant and private gardens, decorated with cobbled walkways and beautiful oak trees.
It’s only 40 minutes from Cape Town and 20 minutes from the historic town of Stellenbosch.
Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa has a rich history dating back to the 1700’s when the original Cape Dutch farmstead was built. It’s one of the most famous hotels in Somerset West, having recently undergone a massive refurbishment. And I must say – this hotel is looking stunning!
The hotel’s 56 en-suite rooms are beautifully decorated with views of landscaped gardens. They’re simple yet stylish; and guests can choose between the Courtyard or Garden Rooms. There are over 5 air-conditioned meeting/conference rooms which have natural light filtering in through the windows.
The spa at Erinvale is a place of rejuvenation, offering the latest health and beauty treatments and techniques designed to rejuvenate tired bodies and minds.
The hotel is within walking distance to estates such as Lourensford Estate, Vergelegen Estate (for cellar tours, wine and chocolate tasting), and Morgenster who make bespoke olive oil.
Lanzerac Hotel & Spa
Lanzerac is a place to be savoured slowly. Whether you’re tucking into fabulous food and tasting award-winning wines, learning about how the amazing wines are made, or getting pampered at the spa while enjoying the views of the Stellenbosch Mountains – this estate is one of the best for you to unwind and relax in the Cape Winelands.

It’s 35 exquisite rooms range from Classic, Junior to Luxury Suites. Lanzerac has four dining options available for lunch or dinner namely: The Deli, Manor Kitchen, Taphuis and Craven Lounge. If you’re in need of some relaxation, the spa is nestled in lush vineyards with amazing views onto the breath-taking Jonkershoek Mountains.
