A little wilder than other islands in the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar has a strong Oman-influence, palm trees as tall as buildings, and towns dominated by Arab architecture.
It’s a small island. A dot in the ocean compared to Madagascar. Yet, once visited, it leaves a strong memory of pearly white beaches, dhows hugging the shores, spice markets, and charcoal-stained palaces.
On a recent trip, we explored the island to see what properties are available for our luxury market. We especially enjoyed our time at Park Hyatt, Meliá Zanzibar and Dream of Zanzibar for the resorts’ attention to detail, crisp interiors, and amazing settings and service.
