Talia Bonhomme
I’ve been in the travel & tourism industry for the last 8 years, starting out at Thompsons Africa in 2014. I “accidentally fell” into tourism while completing a communication degree at UNISA. I had time on my hands, as UNISA is an online university, allowing me to study in the evenings, and applied for jobs. Then Thompsons called and the rest is history.
I have experience with various source markets and high-end clients and itineraries: from honeymooners to multi-gen families. Personally, I’ve travelled to Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, the Kruger area (Sabi Sands, Timbavati, Thornybush), Madikwe, Victoria Falls, Livingstone and Chobe.
My passion is to turn dream trips into dreamy experiences; introducing people from all over the world to Africa’s beauty, charm and adventure is priceless. I can confidently say that “accidentally” falling into tourism has ended up being my greatest passion!
I would consider myself to be a positive, uber-organised, level-headed, and hardworking member of the team. Working alone or in a team isn’t a challenge for me as my aim is to always achieve company objectives on time and with excellence.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, rugby, travelling with friends and family. I love taking in KwaZulu Natal’s gorgeous weather at the dam, boating, or on the jet ski – if I am feeling adventurous
What’s been your favourite safari experience?
One that stands out was, of course, the southern Sabi Sands because I love CATS, and the area always delivers excellent game viewing! So, watching a pride of lion hunt was one for the books. And, of course, watching leopards walking around nonchalantly is incredible.
Pick one place in Africa that’s forever in your heart?
Picking one is so difficult! But I must say the Chobe River. Elephants are my spirit animals! Watching massive herds of ellies crossing and playing in the river was an incredible treat.
Top tip for clients?
Pack light. Be open-minded, adventurous, and flexible. And most of all, live in the moment!
