Photogenic beaches, free diving and snorkelling in the waters off a private island, and a hotel embedded in nature all add up to make Club Med Seychelles bucket list stuff.

Jenna, GM for our incentive team at GILTEDGE, recently travelled to the Republic of Seychelles. She was entranced by the island of Saint Anne, which is home to a single hotel: the Club Med Seychelles Resort. The resort was an oasis of luxury and relaxation, and she loved every minute of her stay.

Tell us about Club Med Seychelles…

This world-class hotel is located on a lush, exotic island teeming with marine life. You don’t even have to scuba or snorkel to enjoy it. From the bridge, you can watch blacktip reef sharks and giant rays swimming below you. That’s what’s so special about the hotel’s location on an isolated island surrounded by a nature reserve. The hotel is very sensitive to the environment and offers daily nature walks. You’ll definitely bump into some of the free-ranging giant tortoises that also live here!

What kept you busy?

It is so beautiful that you would love to spend your time “bored” and relaxing. But there is so much on offer that you won’t want to sit still for long. There are excellent water sports, including a sunset kayak tour – and the sunsets here are really something.

A hike around the island was a great way to experience the beauty of the Indian Ocean. The trail took us over beaches and through protected areas with breathtaking views of water teeming with life. We also saw granite boulders and wild coves where sea turtles come to shelter. This hike was definitely a highlight of our trip!

What special features did you notice in particular?

The staff is very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. There are snacks and food available throughout the day, so you never miss out. There’s an adults-only Zen pool, so you can always find a quiet spot, but you can also have a good time hanging on the beach at the Beach Bar.

We stayed in a Deluxe Veranda Garden view room, which offered great space and a lovely outside veranda area looking into the gardens. These rooms are also nicely located on the longest beach stretch at the resort.

Do you have any advice for someone going there?

Arrive hungry! The food well surpassed my expectations, and the buffet offering in the main restaurant was plentiful. The resort is quite spread out, and one needs to be clear when they select their room category that they understand the location of all the rooms.

Each evening offers a different theme for which most guests dress up, so make sure to pack according to the evening themes, and don’t forget to pack mosquito repellant. Although the rooms offer mosquito wall plugs, you will want to coat up in the evenings for dinner time.

What are nights like?

As relaxed or lively as you wish. You can have a romantic dinner on the beach, with your toes in the sand, enjoying fresh local fish. Or seek out the entertainment. In the evening, the main pool transforms into a stunning entertainment backdrop with makeshift stages floating on the water. Aerial dancers, flame throwers –  there’s never a dull moment.

What type of client is this for, and why?

With the Club Med brand being so versatile in its offering, the resort caters for any client – honeymooners, families, groups and incentives trips and for guests that want that ultimate island experience but also the ability to explore the land by various hiking routes. With endless activity options to keep all ages as busy as they wish, Club Med Seychelles truly is an all-in-one bucket list destination.
