Tours in Nyungwe Forest National Park

The Nyungwe Forest is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and situated in the south-western corner of Rwanda. Spreading over 1000sq, Nyungwe Forest National Park is populated with dense forests of old mahoganies, orchids, and unique epiphytes. It’s a beautiful and magical place! This mountain region is famous for its chimpanzees as well as 12 other primates, including the L’Hoest monkey. The national park has 15 trails that visitors can hike (view them here), go primate trekking, or discover the 1,068 plant species and 140 types of orchids. Birdwatching is also recommended as Nyungwe Forest National Park has about 322 African bird species, which includes 29 endemic species. While the park has about 75 mammals such as the cerval cat, leopard and mongoose – these creatures are very shy.
