Majeka House
Majeka House is a 22-room hotel and spa in a peaceful suburb on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Far from your usual country style, this boutique hotel recently underwent a daring transformation by award-winning designer Etienne Hanekom. The exterior may be white and unassuming but inside you’ll find every detail has been carefully put together to create striking and sophisticated country retreat.
Majeka is owned and run by husband-and-wife team Karine and Lloyd who are always around to ensure their guests have a memorable stay. Throughout the hotel, you’ll notice quirky details such as eye-catching wallpaper, bold accent colours and modern touches eclectically mixed with upcycled vintage finds.
The hotel grounds are beautiful with extensive rose gardens, lavender and jasmine. There are plenty of sun loungers on neatly trimmed lawns and an outdoor pool (along with a large heated indoor pool too). The must-visit spa offers a full range of massages and treatments, and also has a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fitness centre.
Dining at Majeka House is a real treat. To start your day there’s a generous breakfast buffet including delicious freshly baked pastries. But the real culinary highlight is dinner at Majeka’s award-winning Makaron Restaurant where you can sit down to a tasting menu accompanied by a top-class wine list.
