What’s been your favourite safari experience?
They are all magical, every one of them… it is quite a thing to watch the wilds of nature stir to life in the early hours of the morning for the greatest show on earth! My most memorable has to be one of my very first game experiences at Mala Mala in South Africa, surrounded by herds of hundreds of buffalo but an arm’s length away, tracking a lion chase in its’ entirety! It was truly amazing, forever etched in my soul.
Pick one place in Africa that’s forever in your heart?
This is a REALLY hard one. There are so many favourites! But if I really must pick one, Namibia! A unique place where time stands still. It’s a land of breathtaking landscapes and beautiful people. In a day’s exploration, one can experience the desert with rusty-coloured dunes, lush green landscapes, mountain ranges, moon-like terrain and vast gravel plains. The game within Etosha National Park is nothing short of amazing! The waterhole at Okakeujo brings the ‘out of Africa’ feel to life… there is a saying, “If you only visit two continents in your life, visit Africa – twice.” R.Elliot.
Top tip for clients?
Pack light, come with an open mind, and leave the rest of the world behind. Try and include a spa experience or a destressing massage while on safari or wherever you may explore. It truly enhances your experience by ridding the body of all the stresses of modern-day living. It frees one’s spirit, leaving you feeling relaxed yet invigorated and ready for new experiences.
