Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Trou aux Biches lies on the north-west coast of Mauritius, a short drive from Grand Baie. Chalet-style suites and private villas sit tucked into tropical gardens that lead onto a long, narrow beach. The ocean along this stretch of coastline is clear and calm; perfect conditions for sunny days spent water skiing, wakeboarding, snorkelling or sailing.

The largest of the Beachcomber resorts, Trou aux Biches still allows for plenty of privacy making it a popular choice for honeymooners or a romantic break. Chalets have a modern feel and most have a lovely outdoor shower, or for added luxury pick one of the villas – each with their own private pool. That said, this is a great option for a family vacation too and the resort has excellent family accommodation, and both a kids and teens club.

Other facilities worth mentioning include the award-winning Clarins spa; six restaurants including Italian, Indian and Thai; and one of the best scuba dive centres on the island. Then there are the beautifully kept gardens, the suites arranged in crescents around slate swimming pools, as well as the main infinity pool (you’ll soon find your favourite spot to relax and soak up the sun!).

This is such a peaceful location, that most guests don’t stray far from the hotel. But if you do want to explore more of Mauritius, simply stroll along the beach to Mont Choisy and buy an ice cream from the snack stalls shaded amongst the casuarina trees. Or venture into lively Grand Baie to wander around the colourful markets, and stop for a drink overlooking its bay crowded with fishing boats.
