Lalibela Game Reserve

Lalibela Game Reserve encompasses more than 26 000 acres of pristine nature that boasts more than five different biomes, home to distinctly different plants, animals and birds. It is also home to what is believed to be the densest population of free-roaming lions in the country and vast herds of antelope and plains game. Set in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, Lalibela offers accommodation in five 4- and 5-star lodges.

Tree Tops is an exclusive tented camp with just five luxurious double tents. Lentaba Lodge offers 10 stone-and-thatch chalets and is set in a lush valley. The 5-star Kicahaka takes things to another level with its 10 chalets all having private plunge pools. Those looking for complete exclusivity have the option of Mills Manor, an exclusive-use villa with five double rooms. Mark’s Camp with its eight stone-and-thatch chalets can sleep up to 18 adults and eight children – all chalets have private verandas.

Regardless of the choice of lodge, all offer sumptuous comforts, great food and wine, and excellent outdoor activity options. The average qualification level of field guides at Lalibela is one of the highest in South Africa. Combined with the density of game on the reserve, this ensures a spectacular wildlife experience.
