Hyena Pan

Quirky and very cool, Hyena Pan is an affordable safari destination located in the 200 000-hectare Khwai Private Game Reserve that borders the Moremi and Chobe national parks. The conservancy is operated in partnership with local families. With just eight tents, guests here enjoy an exclusive experience in a stunning setting. The en-suite tents are set in the welcome shade of mopane trees overlooking a lagoon that attracts herds of elephant among other wildlife.

The focus is on game viewing from game drives and walking safaris to coming nose-to-tusk with wildlife at the underground hide, which is a highlight experience of a stay here. Commonly sighted species include elephants, giraffe, zebra, antelope and hippo. Sometimes wild dogs are spotted. Back at the camp, the main area hosts the spacious dining deck and living areas where tales of the day’s sightings can be swapped over a cocktail or around the campfire. A sun deck and pool deck with splash pool are popular destinations in the afternoons.

The food is unpretentious and wholesome, providing fuel for the exciting activities of the day. Children above six years of age are welcome at Hyena Pan.
