Sherilyn McCulloch

Born in the beautiful city of Cape Town, Sherilyn loves the city’s outdoor lifestyle and spent much of her childhood hiking, horse-riding, surfing and exploring secret local spots. Her family went on several amazing getaways, which helped grow her wish to spend her life travelling and creating incredible trips for others.
Sherilyn went on to study hospitality and tourism for four years, and has travelled to 14 African countries! Her love of nature, wildlife, adventure, and anything out of the ordinary make her a fantastic fit for the Giltedge team.

What’s been your favourite safari experience?

It’s difficult to pick just one, as I’ve had so many and experienced such diversity throughout my travels. But if I had to choose a favourite; a moment that is forever imprinted in my heart is a rare visit to a hidden denning sight for wild dogs. It felt so special spending time with the pack and their newest members, five-week-old pups. Tear inducing joy!

Pick one place in Africa that’s forever in your heart?

It has to be the Serengeti: endless plains, a rich diversity of wildlife, the Great Migration, and the warmest East African guides! There is something about the Serengeti that feels like home, no matter where you come from.

Top tip for clients?

Always keep an open mind. You never know what really special experiences may lie around the next bend. So put away your iPad, immerse yourself in your surroundings, and make the most of every moment. You’ll be surprised what you find here and, even more so, the memories that you’ll take home with you.
