Linda Tekere
Linda’s love for the travel industry started when she received a prestigious scholarship to study Travel & Tourism at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. As she’d always wanted to travel around the world and learn first-hand about new cultures, it was a massive milestone for her.
During her tertiary studies, Linda worked in the hospitality industry where she dealt directly with clients and gained hands-on experience. And so, her passion for the travel industry was born. This experience piqued her interest to branch into a different sector of travel: to help create dream holidays and help put together unforgettable travel experiences for clients.
She joined the DMC division as an administrative consultant and enjoyed learning from an experienced team, giving her invaluable mentorship. She was then promoted to Junior Groups Consultant. Nowadays she’s an Africa Travel Expert in the inbound team, continuing to develop her skills and striving to create memorable holidays that exceed every client’s expectation.
What’s been your favourite safari experience?
My absolute favourite safari experience has been my safari in Chobe, Botswana. In particular, I loved the river safari and watching the ellies cross the Chobe River from the Botswanan to the Namibian side of the river with their young ones following closely.
Pick one place in Africa that’s forever in your heart?
Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls! I’m probably biased because Zimbabwe is my home country but the Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur. Anyone visiting Southern Africa (budget and time permitting) should add this to their bucket list itinerary.
Your top tip for clients?
Bring along your adventurous side to explore. Keep an open mind to learn from the locals, guides, rangers, and above all remember to enjoy every bit of the moment.
