Accommodation in De Hoop Nature Reserve

Just 3 hours’ drive out of Cape Town, on the Cape Whale Coast, lies De Hoop Nature Reserve. This beautiful reserve is a fantastic choice for hikers, cyclists, bird watchers and anybody who loves being out in nature. The reserve extends out to the De Hoop Marine Protected Area. Every year, from around June to November, some 40% of the world’s southern right whales return to these waters to breed and calve. De Hoop is known for its fynbos (unique Cape vegetation), one of just 6 floral kingdoms in the world. Go on a 4×4 fynbos safari, keeping an eye out for herds of bontebok, Cape mountain zebra and eland. Explore the vlei and enjoy exceptional bird watching on an eco cruise or stroll along the ocean shore – peeking into rock pools lined with multi-coloured sea anemones and starfish.
