Vumbura Plains
Vumbura Plains lies in a massive private concession in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta. The rich mix of clear waterways, floodplains, forests and small palm islands allows for an all-round African safari experience with a great selection of both land- and water-based activities. Game viewing is superb, and this beautiful region is known in particular for excellent predator sightings from lion to wild dog.
At Vumbura Plains every detail has been luxuriously taken care of! There are 2 separate but linked camps – South Camp (6 suites) and North Camp (8 suites) – each with their own main lodge. Suites are spacious, and have a sunken lounge area with floor-to-ceiling windows, large indoor shower and outdoor shower too. Elephant are known to wander into camp, and you can watch them from your private deck, plunge pool or ‘sala’ (the perfect spot for a relaxing massage).
Set out on morning and afternoon game drives, cruise the reed-lined channels on a traditional mokoro or explore the deeper waterways on a motorboat safari. Other activities include walking safaris, fishing and hot air balloon flights over the delta floodplains (extra cost). After a wildlife-packed day, settle in with a drink on the star-gazing deck and enjoy relaxed conversation around the campfire, and the sounds of the African bush at night.
