The River Club

The River Club has a magnificent vantage point on an elevated bank of the Zambezi River, its views extending out over the water and well-named “hippo island”. Housed in a restored 1940s homestead, the main lodge has retained its Edwardian feel with glass doors opening onto wide green lawns that are trimmed and ready for a game of croquet.

There are many activities in the area: Victoria Falls lies a half hour’s drive away, take a scenic helicopter flight, try white-water rafting, visit a local village or go game viewing at nearby Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Between all this buzz and excitement, a real highlight of a stay here is the peaceful moments at the rim-flow swimming pool or watching the sunset on a river cruise.

The River Club has 11 luxurious suites, perfectly positioned amongst the trees on the riverbank. Suites are spacious and open-plan, with furniture made from Zambezi teak wood, and two bathrooms – one with bath overlooking the river. For added luxury pick one of the 2 River Club Suites, each with its own small garden and private plunge pool.

The main lodge Zambezi House has a comfortable sitting room and well-stocked library. Along with an impressive collection of books and journals, you’ll find fascinating photographs, old maps and memorabilia from the lodge’s colourful history. Meals are served out on the wide terrace or beneath the trees around the swimming pool.
