The Plettenberg

Most famous for being a good whale watching spot, The Plettenberg has a magnificent setting with views that stretch across the ocean to distant mountain ranges of South Africa’s Garden Route. Staying here puts you an easy stroll from the beach, restaurants and shops; but best of all is those lazy afternoons spent alongside the infinity pool, sipping a glass of wine as you gaze across the bay.

This small luxury hotel has 37 rooms and suites. Individually decorated in soft blues and creams, the rooms have a relaxed seaside feel with top-class amenities such as fine linen, under-floor heating, a complimentary mini bar and free high-speed WiFi. The Premier Suites have French doors opening onto private step-out balconies, or for even more space and privacy you can book the 2-bedroom Beach House or 3-bedroom Lookout Villa.

The menu at the hotel restaurant, SeaFood at The Plettenberg, is crafted by award-winning Executive Chef Peter Tempelhof. On sunny mornings breakfasts are served out on the terrace, and for dinner you can pick from a fantastic range of (mostly) seafood dishes. We’d also highly recommend sunset drinks at The Sandbar, which has a contemporary feel with white leather and natural oak finishes – and a fantastic cocktail menu!

Finally, the Plettenberg is known for its welcoming service and wonderful attention to detail. From the moment you check in you’ll be well taken care of. And if you need any more help relaxing into holiday mode, pay a visit to the Fresh Wellness Spa which offers a wide range of treatments and massages.
