Sanctuary Chief’s Camp

Experience the thrill of an Okavango Delta safari while staying in absolute luxury at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp. This exclusive camp has an enviable position on Chief’s Island in Moremi Game Reserve, a phenomenal big game destination that has earned its reputation as the ‘predator capital of Africa’.

Reopening in June 2016, Chief’s Camp has been completely rebuilt. Tucked amongst jackalberry and sausage trees, the 10 air-conditioned pavilions each have a comfortable four-poster bed, private dining area, and en-suite bathroom with folding glass doors to let in the delta views. The pavilions open onto their own viewing deck with a private plunge pool and outside seating area, so you won’t miss a minute of the action in this game-rich destination.

Set out on twice-daily safari drives in a specially modified 4×4 vehicle, keeping an eye out for lion and leopard on the hunt, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hyena and (if you’re lucky) the endangered wild dog. You can also explore the maze of lily-covered channels in a mokoro (dugout canoe) – this activity is particularly good in June when the area around the camp floods, attracting masses of wildlife in their search for water.

If you’re travelling with friends or family and would like added privacy, consider the Geoffrey Kent Suite. The most luxurious offering at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, this incredible accommodation is comprised of two interconnecting suites, a kitchen, indoor lounge, private boma with a fire pit, and a full team of staff including both a personal chef and guide!
