Marataba Conservation Explorers Camp
Explorers Camp is the newest addition to Marataba’s conservation legacy. Located in Marataba Contractual National Park, a private section of the Marakele National Park, the camp’s focus is on protecting the area’s diverse flora and fauna through modern and hands-on conservation practices. To encourage a fully tailor-made stay, Explorers camp can be booked on a semi-exclusive basis and sister camp Marataba Conservation Founders Camp can be booked on an exclusive-use basis.
The camp has 5 double tents and 1 family tent, all with spectacular views of Waterberg Massif, as well as an active waterhole directly in front of the property – if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot elephants stopping for a quick drink! The tents have been tastefully designed to capture the Marataba with natural fabrics, wooden furniture and metal details.
When not adventuring on game drives or assisting with conservation programmes, there’s a swimming pool to cool off. As well as boat cruises along the river, hiking excursions and walking safaris. For those who are keen to get stuck in with conservation programmes, there is plenty on offer, from wildlife interventions to predator management and camera trap setups to community outreach programmes. If you manage to spot a rhino whilst on safari, you may have the chance to observe a rhino ear notch identification.
