Makanyi Private Game Lodge
Makanyi opened its doors in June 2015. This luxury lodge is located in the Timbavati, which has been dubbed as “The Place Where Something Sacred Came Down to Earth”. An area of prime game viewing, the Timbavati is home to Africa’s Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as the infamous, albeit elusive, white lions.
Twice-daily game drives get you up close the reserves big game, and if you’re keen on photography the lodge can book a professional wildlife photographer to spend the day with you and show you how to take the best pictures in the most amazing setting. There’s also the option of guided walking safaris: following animal tracks, discover intriguing plants and bushes, and learning about the reserve’s smaller creatures.
Every one of Makanyi’s seven suites overlooks the permanent waterhole. The small size of the lodge gives guests a very private safari experience, while the suites are equipped with all those luxurious extras: an extra-large bed, relaxing sitting area with a fireplace, and a private deck with loungers and an outdoor shower. The two honeymoon suites are located furthest from the lodge and offer more privacy as well as a wonderful plunge pool on the deck.
