Damaraland Camp
Dramatic landscapes, a wonderful feeling of peace and Namibia’s rare, desert-adapted wildlife. It’s all part of the experience at Damaraland Camp, set in the Huab River Valley looking out across desert plains to the distant purple peaks of the Brandberg Mountains.
This welcoming camp has 10 chalets, including a 2-bedroom family chalet. Each thatched-and-canvas chalet is raised on a wooden platform; and opens onto a spacious deck where you can sit and contemplate the extraordinary views. Largely owned and run by the local community, the camp has been built to be as eco-friendly as possible – and won numerous environmental awards!
Morning and afternoon game drives take you out in search of gemsbok (oryx), zebra, giraffe, black rhino and desert-adapted elephants. Opt for a guided walk to see the unique desert plants, visit nearby local communities or take a day drive to see ancient rock paintings.
A stay at Damaraland Camp is also about those moments in between: watching the sunrise over the desert, relaxing by the lovely swimming pool, having dinner under a sky filled with stars – and the rare chance to stay somewhere truly remote.
