andBeyond Kirkman’s Kamp

Visiting Kirkman’s Kamp is like stepping into another era. A softly-lit 1920’s homestead is surrounded by lantern-lit tables set upon manicured lawns. 12 guest suites are decorated in pale blue and champagne hues with verandas overlooking the grasslands and savannah stretching into the distance. This world-renowned safari destination offers big game sightings with the likes of zebra, elephants, and lions. Also, smaller animals like bushbabies and honey badgers. Even the ground pangolin makes an occasional appearance!

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is most famous for its leopard sightings. Kirkman’s Kamp rangers easily track these majestic cats while explaining the habits of the wildlife in the area. Guests can look forward to game drives extending to the evening as leopards are often spotted after a night hunt.

Drives are not the only way to experience Sabi Sands’ wildlife, you can also read tracks amongst the local flora on an interpretive nature walk. The adventurous spirit will want to try the big game viewing walk for some thrilling sightings of the Big 5. You’re likely to spot kudu, giraffes or a cackle of hyenas in the day but leopards, mongoose and civet cats are known to roam in the moonlight.

The WILDchild programme offers a range of fun activities for tiny explorers. Above all, guests can hire a private vehicle with a dedicated tracker team to tailor-make your very own safari.
